Vows is a highly successful business run by four best friends. What do they sell? Weddings. For Mackensie Elliott, affectionately known as Mac, she and her friends have the best job in the world. They make dreams come true for dozens of brides a year, producing fairytale weddings without a hitch or a missed beat. Mac provides the photography, Emma provides the flowers, Laurel bakes the cakes, and Parker does all the organizing and planning. And who better to hire than these women, who have been the best of friends since their childhood days playing “wedding” in the backyard? Yes, Mac has a great life, and fabulous friends; she captures beautiful moments with her camera, and can still time for even just a moment so that the moment itself is never forgotten. But what about her own unforgettable moments? Will she ever find someone to share them with?

Yep, this is sort of a romance novel, in a way. There’s a whole lot of fluffy romantic crap in there between Mackensie and her potential suitor, Carter. My wedding planner boss was the one who recommended this to me, and when she did so, she warned me about the boring fluffy parts. But she assured me that I would highly enjoy the wedding/wedding planning parts, and I definitely did! Everybody knows I can’t resist a wedding, whether it’s perfect or disastrous, hahaha. So, I read this book, and really had fun with the parts of it that showed the four girls in action. They lead a fairly idyllic, somewhat difficult to believe life, since they happen to live on a huge and beautiful estate and get to run their individual businesses as part of the larger establishment of Vows. But hey, nothing wrong with dreaming, right? My favorite character is Parker, by far, I think because she’s the actual wedding planner of the group and I identify with her the most, haha. Minus the exhausting amount of romantic conflict and banter, I enjoyed it. But I could have gotten the same amount of wedding fun from one of my TV shows, so I couldn’t rate it all that highly, haha. Their friendship really is touching though, and like I said, I can never resist a wedding…! I should also mention that this book is the first of a series of four, each one from the point of view of one of the girls…Kim and I are most looking forward to the last one, which is going to be Parker! The second book, Bed of Roses (Emma’s story), just came out a few months ago and the third book, Savor the Moment (Laurel’s story), is due out in April.
